After several days of speculation about his political future, Nigel Farage has made an announcement. The Reform UK leader is stepping down as a member of Parliament but will remain as party leader and now wants to let voters decide his future in a new election.
Nigel Farage announced on Tuesday that he is stepping down as the Member of Parliament for Clacton, thereby triggering a special election. The announcement comes after he became the subject of two investigations under Parliament’s ethics system. One concerns a personal gift of 5 million pounds from the cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne, which, according to the allegations, were not properly reported ahead of the 2024 election.
