Former Säpo Director Anders Danielsson has been elected to Expo’s board of directors. As a result, a far-left smear campaign organization—with historical ties to the terrorist group AFA—is gaining new clout from the very top of the rule of law. This demonstrates the influence Expo now wields.
Former Head of Säpo Anders Danielsson has been elected to the board of Expo.
Danielsson headed the Security Police between 2007 and 2012. He subsequently served as director general of the Swedish Migration Agency and as governor of Västra Götaland. Now he is joining the board of an organization that for years has been monitoring, publicly shaming, and politically attacking opponents on the right.
Joining him is the former editor-in-chief of DN and Expressen Joachim Berner position. The board is led by Anne Ramberg, with Robert Aschberg as vice chair.
Danielsson himself is proud.
– I am both proud and honored to serve on Expo’s board of directors. Throughout my career, I have emphasized the importance of protecting human rights and upholding the democratic rule of law, says Danielsson in a press release.
An organization that shames people is looking for a nice suit
Expo presents itself as an independent source of information on racism. In practice, its activities have involved compiling lists of individuals, publishing their names, and creating documentation that the media and politicians then use to close doors.
Historically, the organization has had staff with backgrounds in the autonomous left, including people associated with AFA. AFA is not a debate club. It is a violent network. Expo has denied that it serves as AFA’s mouthpiece. But the connections at the founding level have never disappeared from the picture—and the practice of public shaming has persisted.
Now they’re bringing in big names from outside. First, Anne Ramberg from the Swedish Bar Association. Then a former head of Säpo. That’s how you buy legitimacy—not by changing your methods, but by putting well-known names on your business card.
Expo's Ties to Violent Left-Wing Extremism
Expo is a magazine founded by, among others, Tobias Hübinette who was also the founder of Antifa (AFA), the violent far-left network now labeled as a terrorist organization. Ever since its founding in 1995, Expo has persecuted, publicly shamed, and ruined the lives of people it considers to have ”wrong opinions.”.
He has also been accused on several occasions of leaking information about ”far-right extremists,” members of the Sweden Democrats, and other opposition figures to the terrorist group AFA so that they could carry out home visits and other attacks against them.
That is why it is a serious matter
When a former head of the Security Police joins Expo’s board of directors, it’s not just a personal side project. It’s a signal.
The very agency tasked with protecting Sweden against extremism and violence now has a former top official who openly supports an organization whose entire business model is to single out political opponents. This gives Expo yet another argument to use against the media, government agencies, and political parties: ”Even the head of Säpo stands behind us.”
That is exactly the kind of influence they are after.
Sweden has already seen how Expo’s surveys are having an impact on the election campaign, in the Government Offices, and in the news cycle. When an organization of this kind is simultaneously filled with people from the highest echelons of the rule of law, the question is no longer what Expo thinks. The question is how deeply it has infiltrated the state.
