Jimmie Åkesson's strong commitment to Israel is now being harshly criticized by his own predecessor. Former SD leader Mikael Jansson says Åkesson was previously completely uninterested in the issue - and now opens up to the possibility that he may have been influenced or controlled by people around him.
Mikael Jansson led the Sweden Democrats between 1995 and 2005 and later sat in parliament for the party until 2018. In an interview with New Times he describes today's SD line as a total reversal.
- In my time, he always said that he thought Israel was a conflict far away, which he was so very uninterested in.
According to Jansson. Jimmie Åkesson never about Israel or the Middle East during the many years they worked together.
- It was a non-issue.
Now, he says, everything has changed.
- So it's even stranger that Åkesson today talks about Israel in every speech?
Opens the door for Åkesson to be “bought”
Jansson says he does not know what is behind the change, but points to people around Åkesson as possible influencers.
- It could be because of his advisors: he has some people who are very one-sided that he listens to.
Then he goes further than that:
- It could also be because he has been bought, which is not impossible.
This is also something that Frihetsnytt has previously highlighted in several articles about the SD leader's changed attitude to Israel. In recent years, Åkesson has not only participated in conferences in Jerusalem and promised long-term support for Israel, but also opened up for political changes in Sweden that favor Jewish and Israeli interests.
Among other things, he has said that support for Israel is more important than winning voters and opened up for exemptions for Jewish circumcision despite the party's previous calls for a ban. Critics say the change is so sweeping that the question of influence or control has become difficult to ignore.
“He wants to be accepted”
In the interview, Jansson describes how he believes that the SD has gradually changed its mind on several major issues in order to be accepted by the bourgeoisie. He mentions the EU, NATO - and now Israel.
- He wants to be as ’good’ as possible. He wants to be forgiven, and welcomed into the bourgeoisie fully.
At the same time, Åkesson gave a speech in Jerusalem in the spring in which he promised continued support for Israel, even if it was unpopular with Swedish voters.
For many, therefore, the change seems dramatic: from total disinterest to making Israel issues a central part of SD policy.

Zionist Democrats, can things get any more open now?
Yet the sheeple go on voting for their own destruction.
They vote for their own destruction. Otherwise you are right.
Many of us have probably wondered about this total reversal. The EU, NATO and Israel. Receiving money from a foreign power is illegal. Perhaps it's time for the relevant authorities to check it out?
Of course he is bought by the Zionists! Could it be any clearer? Just like it works in the USA.
