After the indictment for text message threats, here comes the next news. Tobias Hübinette leaves Karlstad University after an agreement with the university - while the legal process against him continues.
The controversial researcher, AFA veteran and Expo founder Tobias Hübinette has terminated his employment at Karlstad University. This is confirmed both by the university and by Hübinette himself. Reportedly, the employment was terminated on May 10 by agreement between the parties. He is being bought out for twelve months' salary totaling SEK 648,000.
When NWT Mr. Hübinette confirms the information:
- I can confirm the fact that I signed an agreement and that I am leaving.”
Meanwhile, his staff page on the university's website has been removed and now only shows an error message. Asked why the deal was reached, Hübinette would not go into details.

The announcement comes shortly after Hübinette was charged with unlawful threats and harassment following a high-profile text message dispute. According to the preliminary investigation, more than 100 messages were sent over a period of two days, many of which contained threatening language and promises to “destroy” other people's lives.
Hübinette has admitted to sending the messages but denies any crime. However, the prosecutor believes that both the content and the extent are sufficiently serious to constitute unlawful threats and harassment.
Eleven years at the university
Hübinette has worked at Karlstad University since 2015 as an associate professor and senior lecturer specializing in, among other things, critical race and whiteness studies. This is a ”science” whose purpose is to collectively blame white people and claim that whites have universal privilege that is exploited against non-white people.
His time at the university has previously been marked by high-profile conflicts. As early as 2023, SVT reported on defections and internal conflicts linked to his teaching. Now, his time at the university is coming to an end as the legal process continues in court.
