According to the new Global Passport Index 2026, the Swedish passport is the most valuable in the world. Sweden ranks first, followed by Switzerland in second place and Finland in third.
The ranking is not based solely on the number of countries one can visit without a visa, but also takes into account factors such as quality of life, safety, the economy, innovation, healthcare, and social services.
Europe Dominates
Europe dominates the list, with nine of the top ten passports. Singapore, which has the most visa-free travel options, ranks tenth in the broader ranking.
Sweden's top ranking is seen as a sign of the country's strong standing in terms of both freedom to travel and overall quality of life.

You're absolutely right—our passport is worth less than the paper you wipe your ass with.
