An official at the Swedish Migration Agency has been accused of disclosing sensitive information to individuals with ties to the Iranian regime. This is the latest in a long series of cases in which the agency has faced criticism for security lapses, long processing times, inadequate checks, and suspected corruption.
A former case worker at the Swedish Migration Agency was dismissed in 2025 following information from the Security Service. According to TV4According to the investigation, the man is alleged to have had extensive contact over several years with an Iranian intelligence officer, a suspected refugee spy, and individuals with ties to the Bandidos. Among other things, he is alleged to have disclosed information from the Swedish Migration Agency’s records regarding Iranian exiles, Kurds, asylum seekers, and employees. He is also alleged to have sent photos of the inside pages of Iranians’ passports.
TV4’s investigation is based on documents from the Security Service’s inquiry. According to the information, the contacts are said to have taken place over several years and included both in-person meetings and a large number of digital communications. The man has denied the allegations and has sued the Swedish Migration Agency following his dismissal. However, the court has ruled that the dismissal was justified.
The criticism has been going on for many years
This high-profile espionage case comes after several years of documented criticism of the Swedish Migration Agency.
The National Audit Office has reviewed the agency’s checks on work permits. The agency has determined that the checks have not been sufficient to detect fraud and unscrupulous employers. The audit indicates that the system is at risk of being exploited by criminal actors.
Individual employees have also been involved in legal proceedings in the past. There are documented cases in which employees have conducted unauthorized searches in the Swedish Migration Agency’s records. In another case, a former case worker was suspected of accepting bribes in exchange for residence and work permits.
Debate on Regulatory Activism
In addition to the documented criticism of the Swedish Migration Agency, there has been a political debate for several years regarding so-called “regulatory activism.”.
It has also been revealed that, in several cases, individual officials have attempted to influence how immigration laws are applied. One example dates back to 2016, when case workers put in extra hours to make decisions on permanent residence permits before the government’s temporary restrictions took effect. The information was published by Svenska Dagbladet, citing sources within the agency, and has since resurfaced in the political debate.
Critics argue that such incidents demonstrate how individual officials can influence the number of people granted residence permits or citizenship through the way the law is applied.
Calls for stricter controls
The latest revelation has led to new calls for stricter security controls within the Swedish Migration Agency. The debate centers, among other things, on periodic security screenings, better control of access to sensitive records, and faster detection of suspected irregularities.
The latest case shows that there is a widespread problem with individuals within government agencies who have their own agendas. Whether it involves security threats or the abuse of their positions to increase the number of residence permits and naturalizations, it is happening at the expense of the Swedish people.

Precisely because they are completely unnecessary institutions.
I completely agree. The Migration Agency is thoroughly corrupt and completely infested with migrant activists, with its top boss, Mindhammar, at the helm.
An entire ecosystem that thrives on my tax dollars.
The fact that they are violent criminal gangs and clans is no surprise either.
So what is that tail-wagging Kvistenson up to, then? And the SD … ???
