The police have issued a warning about a new scam email that is currently circulating. In the email, the sender claims to be the National Police Commissioner and accuses the recipient of downloading or viewing child pornography.
The email gives the recipient 72 hours to respond; otherwise, it threatens that the person will be added to a national sex offender registry. The sender’s address is fake and looks something like this: polisenfedepol34@polisen.com.
I've received several calls
The police say they have received several calls from concerned individuals who received the email. According to the police, this is simply an attempt at fraud.
– The email, which has been circulating in various versions, is a scam, and the police urge people not to reply to it, the police write in their statement.
How to Protect Yourself
The police are urging the public to:
- Do not click on links in suspicious emails
- Do not reply to the email
- Be especially wary of requests to provide personal information via a link
- Use unique passwords
- Never allow remote access to your computer or phone
This scam is a variation of so-called ”sextortion” scams, in which scammers try to intimidate people into paying or disclosing information. The police emphasize that legitimate authorities never contact private individuals in this way via email.

I received an email like that maybe two years ago.
Maybe we should get involved in order to expose the person behind it all….
At least that's what I would do if I received an email like that
