The Social Democrats are trying to present themselves as being tougher on migration at home. At the same time, the party leadership participated in an international left-wing meeting where a mass amnesty for illegal migrants was presented to applause. SD points this out in a new debate article.
Leader of the Sweden Democrats Jimmie Åkesson and Member of the European Parliament Charlie Weimers directs in a new opinion piece harsh criticism of the Social Democrats' migration policy and international cooperation.
The criticism is directed at the Social Democrats participation at the summit Global Progressive Mobilization in Barcelona on April 17-18. In attendance were the leaders of the Social Democratic Party Magdalena Andersson and the former party leader Stefan Löfven together with left-wing parties, activist organizations and international networks from over 100 countries.
Also Alexander Soros, President of the Open Society Foundations, participated during the meeting and described the gathering as a global collaboration of progressive organizations and political movements.
Gave amnesty to over half a million illegals
In the op-ed, Åkesson and Weimers highlight a specific message from the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. During the conference, Mr. Sánchez announced that the Spanish government is planning an amnesty for over 500,000 illegal migrants. According to SD, in practice this means that the migrants will then be able to move freely within the EU member states.
The SD leaders reacted in particular to the fact that the Swedish S leadership did not publicly object to the announcement during the meeting:
”Magdalena Andersson and Stefan Löfven, who were both present at the meeting, did not criticize the decision. Instead, it was applauded even from the Swedish side.”
In the article, Åkesson and Weimers describe the meeting as an opportunity for the Social Democrats” international cooperation to show a different political line than the one the party communicates to Swedish voters. They refer, among other things, to the fact that large parts of the conference were about ”open borders" and international coordination on migration policy.
Refers to how the party acts in the EU
In the article, Åkesson and Weimers also link the Barcelona meeting to how the Social Democrats have acted in the European Parliament. They write that the Social Democrats have repeatedly voted against proposals for stricter asylum rules and against physical barriers at the EU's external borders, while the party in Sweden describes itself as more restrictive on the issue of migration.
They also point to votes on EU return policy. According to the op-ed, the Social Democrats did not support reforms to strengthen the enforcement of expulsion decisions, despite the fact that, according to the article, four out of five expulsions within the EU are never carried out.
Åkesson and Weimers further argue that the same pattern can be seen in international cooperation outside the EU. In the article, they mention, among other things, the UN migration agreement Global Compact for Migration, which they describe as an example of initiatives where the Social Democrats have pushed for increased international migration and weaker national control over migration policy.
In the article, SD summarizes its criticism of the Social Democrats' policy:
”There is clearly a deep and systematic duplicity within the Social Democrats.”
Even on X, criticism continues. Jimmie Åkesson write:
”The Social Democrats say one thing at home and something completely different in international contexts.”

Both S and SD are big liars they both work for the globalists SD has not reduced any immigration just tinkered with the names of people the number is the same as during the time of the sossarnas.
