Sweden's ÖB received Ukraine's finest medal

Sweden's Commander-in-Chief Michael Claesson has been awarded the highest honor of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. He receives the medal as a thank you for Swedish politicians sending more than SEK 120 billion in aid to Ukraine since 2022.

During a ceremony in Stockholm Michael Claesson received the Ukrainian award “Cross of Special Merit”.

The medal is awarded to individuals who are considered to have made particularly important contributions to the defense of Ukraine. Claesson is the first Swede to receive the award.

Accepting the medal with humility

According to the motivation, it is about Sweden's extensive support to Ukraine during the war, as well as the Swedish Armed Forces' work to contribute to the country's defense capability.

- I accept this award with humility. At the same time, my thoughts are with the suffering of the Ukrainian people, the struggle that goes on and the sacrifices that are made every day, says Michael Claesson in a statement.

ÖB emphasizes continued responsibility

He emphasizes that the award is not just for him personally.

- This is not just my award. It is shared in practice by all the staff and colleagues who have contributed to Sweden's support to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. I will wear it with pride, but also with a continuing responsibility.

At the same time, he stresses that Sweden's support to Ukraine will continue.

- We feel a strong sense of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the struggle you are going through. Sweden will stand by you and continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes.

The award was presented by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Sweden, Svetlana Zalishchuk, together with the country's defense attaché Serhii Harbarenko.

  1. I feel no affinity whatsoever with the Ukrainian people, nor with the Russian people for that matter. The war is not our business to interfere. ÖB should stand on a treadmill instead and take care of our own country that is in a state of disintegration due to the globalists' mass immigration
