But the assignment may be short-lived. The Center Party\u2019s refusal to cooperate with the Sweden Democrats risks derailing Kristersson\u2019s efforts even before the Riksdag gets a chance to vote.<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After that <strong>Magdalena Andersson<\/strong> (S), who was voted out as prime minister on Thursday, is expected to <strong>Ulf Kristersson<\/strong> be given another chance to form a government. The Speaker <strong>Andreas Norl\u00e9n<\/strong> will announce his decision at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. An exploratory mandate means that Kristersson will be able to explore the possibilities of forming a government, but it does not necessarily have to lead to a vote on the prime minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>May return the assignment<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kristersson has previously stated that he does not want to hold votes that are expected to fail. Therefore, he may choose to quickly return the mandate if he is unable to garner sufficient support. The political scientist<strong> Tommy M\u00f6ller<\/strong> assesses in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.svd.se\/a\/PgLp5R\/statsvetare-darfor-ar-ett-extraval-osannolikt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Svenska Dagbladet<\/a><\/strong> (SvD) that such a scenario is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Center Party is keeping the door closed<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest obstacle is the Center Party\u2019s refusal to support a government that cooperates with the Sweden Democrats. Even though <strong>Jimmie \u00c5kesson <\/strong>(SD) on Sunday <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frihetsnytt.se\/en\/akesson-invites-the-center-party-in-an-open-letter\/\">invited <\/a><\/strong>in the C-leader <strong>Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist<\/strong> Based on the discussions, there are no signs that the party intends to change its stance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A special election may be delayed<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four rejected nominations for prime minister in the Riksdag are required to trigger a special election. However, if Kristersson returns the exploratory mandate without a vote, the process will not come any closer to that threshold.
