Gloomy Numbers for the Social Democrats and the Left Party – Kristersson’s Approval Rating Soars

The leaders of the red-green parties face new challenges following the election. A recent confidence poll reveals significant differences among the party leaders—and offers a glimpse into how the political landscape has changed.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is strengthening its position after the election, while the Left Party’s Nooshi Dadgostar is losing support even among its own voters. This is shown by SVT/VerianThe poll, published Thursday morning. The survey comes at a time when the red-green parties are struggling to agree on a government.

Kristersson Reaches Historic High

Kristersson's approval rating has risen by seven percentage points in one month, from 38 to 45 percent. This is his highest level to date in the SVT/Verian polls. SVT's political commentator Elisabeth Marmorstein points to the Moderate Party's growing support and the governance problems on the red-green side.

– It's also likely that he could benefit from the turmoil on the red-green side, ", Marmorstein tells SVT.

Dadgostar is also losing its own voters

For the leader of the left Nooshi Dadgostar The trend is the opposite. Approval ratings have fallen from 19 to 11 percent in just one month—a drop of eight percentage points. According to Marmorstein, this is the left-wing leader’s lowest rating since she took office in 2020.

– Her approval rating hasn't been this low since she was elected party leader in 2020, says Marmorstein.

Andersson Well Below His Previous High

The leader of the Social Democratic Party Magdalena Andersson stands at 40 percent, an increase of three percentage points since the previous poll. But four years ago, her approval rating was 61 percent. The Christian Democrats’ Ebba Busch is now ahead of the S leader with 41 percent, while the SD leader Jimmie Åkesson reaches 33 percent.

The survey is based on responses from 1,054 people between the ages of 18 and 84. The interviews were conducted October 14–16, 2026, prior to the publication on October 22.
