Speaker Postpones Government Announcement—Party Leaders Have the Weekend to Decide

The government crisis continues, and Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén is giving party leaders more time to negotiate. A decision on the next steps will not be announced until Monday. Meanwhile, the possibility of a snap election remains if the parties fail to reach an agreement.

Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén announced On Friday, he said he had spoken by phone with party representatives about forming a government. No new mandate to attempt to form a government has yet been announced.

Instead, the informal talks will continue over the weekend. On Monday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m., Norlén will hold a press conference at the Riksdag.

Calls on party leaders to negotiate

Norlén emphasizes that the parties themselves must work to resolve the government crisis. No formal mandate is needed for the negotiations to continue.

– I also assume that the party leaders will make good use of this time for their ongoing discussions.

A special election could be the next option

If the Riksdag votes down the Speaker’s nomination for prime minister four times, a special election must be held. However, no such decision has been made. An announcement on how the government formation process will proceed is expected on Monday. Until then, it is up to the party leaders to try to break the political deadlock.

  1. It's all about logging hours and billing the taxpayers, all right.

    Btw.
I'm starting to think about damages for the six decommissioned K-Kraft plants. In the 1,000 billion range.
Plus compensation for 2 million foreigners, which costs 400 billion a year. 30 years ago.
In addition, the “Mousse Brotherhood” with which the Social Democrats have signed an agreement is now classified as a terrorist organization. In that case, we can freeze the Social Democrats’ assets until the investigations are complete.
In other words, they must PAY BACK out of their own pockets for the mess they've caused.
And I won't take "no" for an answer here.
